With the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act, and the ensuing
silver crash of 1893, production of Morgan Silver Dollars from
1893-1895 dropped dramatically. Further, 1893 marked the end of coin
production at the Carson City Mint. Today, these last-year issues
command a price of many thousands of dollars, even in lower grades,
making this commemorative proof a key date to fill in your collection.
