This is an antique lantern made by Dietz--we're not sure if it's
kerosene or oil. It has certainly acquired the patina of age, even a
little rust. All parts are intact except the handle that arches over
the top. The lantern is 10" high and approx. 6" across the top.
There are a number of markings on this lantern, and they are the
following:
* On the very top: Dietz Vesta in an oval
* "New York Central" around the top
* "Patented July 30-07 May 4-09 June 1-09 C18-10 6-2-27" is written
on the top as well (see pictures)
* On the glass is inscribed "Dietz" in an oval, with Vesta below
that, and New York USA below that
* Also on the glass is a logo of some sort that appears to be a
horseshoe on its side with the letters NVX inside, with Made in
USA below it
* Finally, on the glass is the large inscription "NYCLINES" inside
an oval.

Up for auction today fresh from a wonderful WISCONSIN AUCTION
is a
VINTAGE ANTIQUE AVEA FONT KEROSENE OIL LAMP WITH DIAMOND BASE.
This lamp does glow a wonderful yellow color under a blacklight
signifying vintage and authentic glass.
There are no cracks, chips, nicks, hairlines, or repairs on this
lamp. It does appear to have what looks like a burst air bubble on the
font (see pics). This in no way detracts from the beauty of this lamp.
This pedestal kerosene oil lamp stands 9 3/4 inches high to the top of
the vintage collar and 19 inches high to the top of the chimney. The
burner is a old Eagle No. 2 and 3 burner with a wonderful patina.
This lamp comes complete and all that is needed for a vintage or
primitive light is a match and lamp oil or kerosene.
