Coming out of a local estate sale I have a vintage "Sleepy Head Baby
Doll made by Knickerbocker Toys Inc. She measures 14" tall. Very
adorable! Tag says she is made with Vinylite Plastic....she is just
adorable! No holes tears etc. In good condition.

Y For Auction is a great pair of vintage bride and groom dolls. Each
doll stands about 7" tall and each has a porcelain china shoulder
plate type molded head. The hands and legs are porcelain from hands
to above the elbows and feet to above the knees. The body is filled
and cotton covered yet firm filled. The faces are hand painted and
quite nice with no loss of detail that I can determine. There is a
small chipped off area of the toes on the brides right foot and she is
shoeless.... BUT The light ivory on both of the lower parts of the
feet may be ivory colored painted-on shoes.
The brides gown and undies has some yellowing from age and includes an
alencon type lace over satin 10" long train that extends from the
neckline down. She also has lace, netting, and satin slips and
pantaloons. There is a small tear in one area of the lace at the
bottom of the dress. There is also a Fabulous added touch with a blue
garter and flower painted and fired into the porcelain of the left leg
and a great veil with flowers and of course the brides bouquet. How
great!
The groom has a black cotton linen tuxedo with tails and formal shirt
and bowtie. The black buttons are also cotton and the formal shirt
has been stiffened. The feet and lower legs are dark satin black that
has been painted on and fired in the porcelain. There is a black
grosgain ribbon down the outside of each pant leg and the back of the
jacket's tails have two buttons at the top -just like a tuxedo would
have. The groom has a great painted face with blue eyes and
mustache. Nice guy!!
I am not sure of the exact age of these old dolls but I am pretty
sure they are over 25 years of age and probably much older. I have
not removed the clothes to attempt to find a makers mark as the
clothes are sewn on and I didn't want to risk damaging them. There
is some crackling of the porcelain as would be expected with older
dolls without any cracks or chips that I can find. There are no other
significant chips, breaks, or paint loss. A great pair of bride and
groom dolls for the collector or just to enjoy!
